Meet Patricia Hernandez
Patricia Hernandez is a senior at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, with a major in Classical Guitar Performance and a minor in Psychology and Exercise Physiology. Patricia has had experience playing, competing, and performing the classical guitar for 14 years, and has been teaching at the Frost Preparatory Program for 2 years. She has had master classes with world renowned players such as Jason Vieaux, Irina Kulikova, Texas Guitar Quartet, Jorge Luis Zamora, Meng Su, and others. Patricia has been awarded First Prize in the FSU International Classical Guitar Competition Youth Division, Third Prize in the Florida Guitar Foundation International Classical Guitar Competition Youth Division, Third Prize in the James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition, among others. She is a part of the Miami Guitar Duo and is under solo and duo instruction from Professor Rafael Padron at the University of Miami. Patricia is passionate about teaching and sharing the craft of playing the classical guitar, while giving students the confidence and encouragement to practice and bring their own musical interpretations to the lessons. She incorporates music theory and rhythm into lessons so that the students leave with a broader understanding of music.
